About

St. Louis based artist, Jeremy Harold Sukalec draws inspiration from his love of animation, digital artwork, graphic design and graffiti. His use of a variety of mediums such as Acrylic, Paint Markers and Spray Paint, while leveraging hand cut stencils, masking techniques and various printing methods give his pieces a bold, graphic aesthetic. “I love the process. I think about my pieces for weeks or sometimes months before ever putting a canvas on the easel. I like to paint in my head. Going over each step in my mind before I ever set out to create the image. I enjoy clean lines, geometric shapes and bold colors which provide my pieces with a sense of being created digitally. However, my hope is that with the use of physical mediums I am able to provide a more tactile experience for the viewer.” So… what is “Harold Works”? My middle name is Harold. I was named after my grandpa, Harold Buus. He was an amazing multi-media artist in his own right and in his later years had a very prolific art career taking commissions and selling at art festivals. Harold Works is simply a continuation of that practice / heritage.

Artist Statement

My work explores the absurdity, humor, and horror of late-stage capitalism through loud colors, warped nostalgia, and intentionally unrefined design. Influenced by 80s & 90s gross-out culture, underground comics, and sticker aesthetics, I create art that embraces chaos while critiquing the systems we live in. Every piece is both a joke and a warning—an invitation to laugh, cringe, and question what we’ve normalized.
